Playground
Our extensive play area offers a wide variety of physical and social activities. Equipment has been placed in our natural setting within the valley so children can appreciate nature as they develop. Campers use their imagination as they play on our pirate ship, build castles on beach-like sand areas, climb the spider net or explore the many challenging play structures. Safety and supervision are always our first priority.
Music
Daily musical activities are carefully designed to help the children attain motor, auditory and rhythmic skills. Group participation, imaginative expression and building of self-esteem are naturally incorporated into the musical experience. Unique group songs, camp wide music circles and day-to-day programming provide endless opportunities for fun and laughter. Renowned children’s performer, Kayla, has been at camp for nearly 30 years providing a fun and stimulating music experience. Our Drumming program, led by Ora from "Living Rhythm" which provides enriching opportunities for music appreciation and a sense of belonging, while at the same time developing small and large motor skills.
Arts and Crafts
Planned and implemented by our experienced Arts and Crafts counselors, the varied activities are designed to maximize creativity and self-expression. A wide array of materials and media are used for this program. Art projects are often inspired by weekly camp themes.
Sports
Dash Sports offers an educationally based sports program utilizing specialized sporting equipment and exercises combined with creativity and positive teaching methods. The excitement of popular ball games such as basketball, soccer, hockey and baseball is brought to life. Campers develop confidence, motor skills and team spirit through their participation.
Swimming
Our experienced Red Cross-certified swim instructors understand the needs of the young child. Our focus is to ensure that each child feels secure and comfortable in the water. Individual progress is monitored and reports are issued at the end of each session. Children enrolled in half day groups swim for one half hour per day while full day groups swim for one hour per day.
Rainy Days
Rainy days are fun at Hillcrest! During periods of “liquid sunshine”, our campers are challenged and excited by a variety of indoor games and activities that promote creativity and team building skills. Our inside facilities are air-conditioned and the rooms are filled with educational equipment for creative movement, drama and art.
Special Activity Days
Special events are incorporated into our programs throughout the summer at Hillcrest Camp. Costume days, theme days, treasure hunts, and carnivals add spirit and excitement to our busy summers. In addition, we welcome special guests and performers to add to our fun.
Visitors' Evenings
Visitors' evenings are planned for each four-week session. Campers look forward to sharing their new friends and experiences with their families. Special events are planned and give us all an opportunity to get to know each other better.
